The Magic of Your Inner Compass

Do you recall how a compass works?

A compass contains a small magnetized needle that can turn freely. The Earth itself has a magnetic field, an invisible force that causes the needle to line up with it, pointing approximately north and south.

And here's something interesting: magnets can attract or repel certain objects without even touching them!

Imagine what people must have thought when they first discovered this mysterious power.

Some ancient thinkers even believed that magnetic stones, called lodestones, might possess a soul because they could cause other objects to move.

Eventually, people learned to use magnetism to find their way across unfamiliar lands and seas.

But there's something else about compasses.

Nearby magnets can interfere with a compass needle, causing it to point in the wrong direction.

Hmm...

Could something like that happen to me?

Could I have been following directions influenced by other people's expectations, old beliefs, or habits I've developed over the years?

And how would I know?

Perhaps it's time to take a look at my own inner compass.

After all, there's a line in My Spell:

“I'm real, I magnetize.”

What might that mean for me?
